This event is a competition event of the 17th Jiangxi Provincial Games. It is the highest-level event in the province and about 500 contestants, as well as 100 referees and staff members, will gather in Anyuan. During the 5-day competition, the contestants will engage in multiple high-level competitions, including: 

Personal events: 1. Short-distance orienteering competition; 2. Mid-distance orienteering competition; 3. 100-meter orienteering competition; 4. Points-based orienteering competition. 

Team events: 1. Team定向race; 2. Relay定向race. 

Cross-country orienteering is a sport that uses maps and compasses for navigation. It requires athletes to visit all the checkpoints indicated on the map within the shortest possible time. It demands excellent physical fitness as well as the mental qualities and decision-making skills needed for quickly reading maps and planning routes.
