The third round of horizontal ecological compensation agreement in the East River Basin

The agreement stipulates that from 2022 to 2024, if the water quality of the outbound section of the Dongjiang River Basin maintains a monthly average of three standards, Ganzhou will receive subsidies from the central government and Ganjiang and Guangdong provinces, mainly for ecological protection and restoration projects in the basin.

It is understood that as early as October 2016, under the active promotion of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and with the strong support of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, Gan and Guangdong signed the Agreement on Horizontal Ecological Compensation for the Upstream and Downstream of the Dongjiang River Basin, officially launching the pilot ecological compensation work in the Dongjiang River Basin. On the basis of the remarkable effectiveness of the first round of ecological compensation, Gan and Guangdong provinces signed the second round of agreement at the end of 2019.During the six-year period of the agreement, the ecological and environmental problems in the source area have been significantly improved, and the outbound water quality of the Dongjiang River Basin has maintained 100% compliance with the standards.Received 1.5 billion yuan of central award funds, 600 million yuan of horizontal compensation funds from Guangdong Province, and 600 million yuan of financial matching arrangements from the province, for a total of 2.7 billion yuan of compensation funds issued to the Dongjiang source area.
